Mums Who Build (AKA The MOB) have teamed up with independent estate agency, Location Location, after a serendipitous meeting at an event hosted by Women in Residential Property (WiRP). At the event, Georgie Harris and Bex Coxshall, founders of The MOB, gave an inspiring talk about their mission to empower mums.
Anna Takkou, Sales Manager at Location Location, reflected on the moment she heard their story: “I was so impressed with the work these women are doing and truly believe in their mission. I instantly felt that the large community of women in Stoke Newington, where our office is based, could benefit hugely from such a group. I knew we had to make this happen.”
Mums Who Build (The MOB) aims to maximise maternity leave, eliminate imposter syndrome, and help close the wealth gap between men and women. As part of their collaboration with Location Location, they will be hosting monthly sessions on Wednesday mornings at the estate agency’s Stoke Newington Church Street office. These sessions are designed to create a supportive environment where mums can bring their babies, connect with each other, and share knowledge.
Vicky Bibiris, Managing Director at Location Location, emphasised the significance of this initiative: “As soon as I heard about this empowering duo and their mission, I knew it could make a considerable difference to the women in our community. Being involved with groups like WiRP and the Property Academy, I’ve seen first-hand the impact a shared mission can have. I want to bring that to the women in Stoke Newington.”
The MOB was founded by Georgie Harris and Bex Coxshall, who both transitioned into motherhood from high-powered careers. Georgie previously worked in marketing for Burberry, while Bex held roles in commercial finance for companies like Apple and Red Bull. The pair met at a mutual friend’s party, bonding over their shared vision of empowering mothers.
Georgie’s journey took an unexpected turn when one of her sons was diagnosed with additional needs, and she put her career on hold to care for him. “In January last year, I was ready to return to work, but after taking time out for my children, the leap back felt overwhelming. I felt like I had been hiding under a rock,” she shared. “Meeting Bex changed my life. She had this incredible idea to empower women, and together, we’re bringing it to life.”
Bex, who founded BC Taylor Limied, a management consultancy, shortly after becoming a mum in 2022, wanted to find other mothers balancing businesses, careers, and family life. Her vision for The MOB is to create a supportive network where mums can learn from each other, advance their goals, and overcome the challenges of balancing work and parenthood.
Bex explained: “The MOB is the community we wish we had when we were on maternity leave. While there are many resources for babies, mums often crave intellectual stimulation. Our group provides a chance to discuss ideas, build confidence, learn new skills, and navigate the return to work or starting a business after becoming a mum.”
Mums Who Build focuses on three key pillars: wellbeing, connection, and financial fitness. Weekly hangouts provide informal networking opportunities, while monthly skill-sharing ‘surgeries’ cover topics such as social media, nutrition, finance, and somatic therapy.
To promote financial independence among mums, Bex also launched a financial-security-building toolkit and an on-demand financial education platform. Since its release in April, the toolkit has been accessed over 120 times, and 20 beta testers have trialled the education platform via SKOOL. Based on their feedback, Bex plans to relaunch the improved platform in late 2025 after welcoming her second child this October.
Georgie added: “Many of the mums who come to us had successful careers before children but struggle to return to work or consider starting a business. By coming together as a community and learning from each other, we can make a real impact. And best of all, it’s completely free – we’re building a community for everyone, no matter their income or career background.”
