Women in Residential Property Chair

The deadline for applications is Thursday 10th August.  This is a voluntary role, and the successful candidate will be expected to take up the position on Monday 4th September 2023 for a period of two years.

Introduction to Women in Residential Property

Founded in 2017, Women in Residential Property organises online and offline events to:

  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between women working across all sectors of the residential property industry from development through to agency.
  • Help women develop their personal and professional support networks.
  • Provide a friendly, supportive, blame free environment where attendees can share problems and discuss solutions.

2023 will see WIRP arrange over thirty online and offline events attracting a total over 600 attendees working across the residential property industry from Agency through to Development.

The group attracts a range of sponsors with headline sponsors in 2023 being Groundsure, tmgroup, SDL Surveying, Moneypenny and Assured Sales and Progression.

Charity support

Since 2018, WIRP has supported the charity Ella’s through regular financial donations and through providing a platform that enables Ella’s to increase awareness of their work.  Funds have been raised via events dedicated to supporting the charity, e.g, International Women’s Day Walk for Ella’s and, until 2022 a share of the proceeds from tickets sales.  The incoming Chair will have the option to continue supporting, via dedicated fund-raising events, Ella’s and/or to support a new charity.

Role of Chair

  • To act as an Ambassador for WIRP by promoting WIRP values, membership, sponsorship opportunities and events with the aim of driving the continued growth of the group.
  • To form and work collaboratively with the WIRP committee and sponsors to set the strategy for WIRP being mindful of the aims and values that underpin the group.
  • To convene and chair six WIRP committee meetings per annum.
  • To attend and Chair at least six WIRP events per annum including no less than three in-person events.
  • To assist in the organisation of successful events through the identification of addressable topics and appropriate speakers.

WIRP is managed by Today’s Media and the incoming Chair will, if required receive support from the outgoing Chair and Founder, Emma Vigus.

This is an exciting opportunity to Chair a successful group and to build on the strong foundations that have been established since WIRP was launched.  To a certain extent, it will be up to the Chair to shape the role to make it work for them, but the position offers a very valuable opportunity to:

  • Gain leadership experience and insight into market conditions across the residential property industry
  • Raise personal profile and your employers’ profile
  • Expand your personal network
  • One free ticket to each WIRP event and 25% discount on 2 further tickets per event

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable travel and accommodation expenses related to attendance at face-to-face events will be covered.
